United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees (UNHCR)

Registered 4,283,224 Syrian “persons of concern” displaced from Syrian by December 2015. Manages camps, coordinates dozens of NGOs throughout the world. Gearing up to provide winter supplies/services. DONATE: http://www.unhcr.org/.

 

Syria Relief and Development

A nonprofit founded in Kansas by American Muslims with roots in Syria. HQ in Overland Park, KS; offices in Jordan and Turkey. Supports 35 hospitals and health posts in embattled Northern Syria; provides emergency treatment and surgery. World Food Program (United Nations)

United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)

Present since the Syrian crisis began, cares for one-half million Syrian children, in and out of the country. UNICEF works with partners to provide education, physical protection, psychological support, clothing, immunizations, and safe drinking water. Save the Children

Inter-Faith Ministries

Operates 3 homeless shelters in Wichita, 2 year-round and another during the colder months, November to March. Residents receive shelter, food, and case management to help them obtain or keep employment, learn budgeting and parenting skills, conquer addictions, and focus on short- and long-term goals.
